A tip for you: Use a cut-off portion of a measuring tape (6 inches is recommended) and put it in your sewing basket or in your sewing table drawer. When you have to measure something as you are sewing, or hemming, or placing buttons or measuring a seam, you can just pull out this little piece of measuring tape and quickly measure. It eliminates unrolling a LONG, full tape and having to hang it around your neck. I use it ALL THE TIME!
