Well, yesterday was the Summer Solstice. How does a quilter celebrate the Summer Solstice? By sewing something, of course. While I was away at Spring Market this year, my dog ran across the invisible fence and bit the neighbor. He was a beautiful, graceful, well mannered Standard Poodle. He would come with me to the shop. He was always very polite to all the customers. He never barked and never
Quilting the 50 States
I have decided to create a paper pieced pattern for all 50 states. What started this? Well, Row by Row Experience inspired me. I had the idea to create our row out of Wisconsin blocks. That’s because the theme for the row is supposed to be “Home Sweet Home” this year. I was so excited when the idea came to me. However, I don’t enjoy applique, unless it’s by machine.
The Dogs of Summer
We are starting something new this summer. In addition to Row by Row, we are doing the “Dogs of Summer”. Come in to the Bungalow and ask for the free pattern for the dog that is being featured for that week. Here’s the dog that will be featured this week: Her name is Daisy. I am not sure but I think she’s a shelter dog. There are so many things
Row by Row Experience
So, the Row by Row Experience is almost upon us! It starts on June 21st, and ends sometime in September. I am particularly proud of our row this year. It is the State of Wisconsin, all done in solids. I love the simple yet dramatic look of using solids. As a modern quilter, it’s one of the mainstays. Our block is one of the only modern ones in all of
Graduation Time
So many people go to graduation parties at this time of year. There is the age old dilemma of what to get for the graduate. You could get a laundry basket and fill it with laundry and cleaning supplies, but that gets old. Everyone does that. You could give them a Starbuck’s card, but everyone does that too. So, you’re thinking. I have all this fabric that I have spent
Fun at Spring Market
We had a great time at Spring Market. It was especially memorable for me because I had a lot going on. I had a book demo and signing, I had made all those umbrellas for the Westminster Fibers booth, and I got to see my fabric designs for Andover on Storyboard. Those are still top secret, under wraps until the reps start showing it. I can’t wait. Here is a
Free Spirit and Westminster Fibers Booth
Okay. I think we’re close enough to market to show the umbrellas that I did for the Westminster Fibers booth at Quilt Market, Spring, 2016. I kicked out 9 umbrellas using brand new fabric from Tula Pink, Kaffe Fassett, Amy Butler, and more. So excited to see them at market.
Ethan Shirt
Wow! Long time since I’ve blogged anything. It’s been a wild ride with getting ready to go to market, and all the other wonderful springtime things. So, we are really trying to branch a little further into the garment sewing world. There are after all, other things to do besides just sewing quilts! There are so many things to sew. I just recently started getting patterns from a company where
Westminster Fibers and Free Spirit Booth
I am so honored to have been asked to contribute to the booth for Spring Market 2016. They contacted me to create some things for their booth using fabric that no one has seen yet. It will be for ordering this spring. I can’t wait to get started. It’s a surprise, and I can’t show it to anyone, but the box arrived yesterday at the shop. This will be a
Garment Sewing with Warmer Days in Mind
I think everyone is ready for spring. It’s here but we just had a lot of snow dumped on us. They say that farmers like these late winter/early spring snows. The moisture can soak into the ground without being erosive. I’m not a farmer, that’s just me repeating what I hear but it sounds good to me. The best kind of projects are ones that turn out really cute but
