There’s nothing so luxurious as a new set of pajamas. I don’t understand why people don’t make these for wedding shower gifts. Most people give the same old things at wedding showers. I have never been one to buy from a wedding registry. I like to make something for a new bride or expectant mother. In fact, I forbid my girls from even having registries. Of course, their weddings were so small it wouldn’t have made sense anyway. But, I felt that a gift is something that is given from the heart. I never had a registry as I felt that if I received a gift it was supposed to be just that–a gift, and not something that was expected. There are a lot of people that would totally disagree with that, but I know a lot of sewists over the years that have come into my shop, bemoaning this very issue. It’s one thing to let people know your favorite colors and what you prefer in terms of style such as clean lines, midcentury style, or eclectic shabby. But to dictate what gifts you receive, well, that has never been for me. Of course there are people that would vehemently disagree with me, and that is totally okay, I respect that opinion as well. But I digress. boy, did I digress.
These pjs are feminine and soft and flowy. They’re comfy but don’t look frumpy. They are made from Rayon. We do have some Rayons left in the shop but are sold out of many of them. I am waiting for the reps to come back into the shop so that I can order more! This particular rayon is from Moda fabrics and it’s elegant and cool. A new bride or a new mother would love to feel pretty! Or make them for yourself for heaven’s sake! So many of us are gift oriented that we don’t sew for ourselves. Take the time!
I have a you tube video about the correct way to lay out a pattern for those of you that are not garment sewists. Many people don’t learn this in school anymore, and it’s hard to know where to go to find it. There are others too that have made videos for this purpose. Don’t let that stop you. If you don’t know how to do it, find out! We have this pattern in the shop, so you can contact me through this website or email me.
