When my daughter got married 5 years ago, she asked me to make pennants for the inside of the tent. Well, she didn’t want just one strand, she wanted about 10 strand to stretch across the entire tent. Well at first I thought it was an insurmountable task. But, as I got going I realized just how economical and fun this decor idea really was. I had more than enough fabric scraps, and as long as they were brightly colored, it didn’t really matter what kind they were.
Of course, I didn’t want anything with monsters on them or Christmas fabric, but most of my scraps were fair game. They didn’t take long to cut and sew, but the effect that they had was dramatic. For the small amount of time and money, it had a huge payback. In every single picture of that reception, there they were, flapping in the warm breeze. It was so worth it and I would do it again…but fortunately, I wouldn’t have to as the pennants can be saved and used over and over again.
Here is a photo of her on her wedding day. As you can see, the pennants are flapping gently in the background. I can’t think of a single event or opportunity to use these that would not be perfect. You could make them for every holiday, and many different events such as graduations, showers, birthdays…anything. They can also be made for just no reason at all, but to make your screened in porch look lovely, or even on an apartment balcony or patio! I sure would add a lot of class and festivity to any section of living space.
