Cuddle is the most amazing fabric. It’s also very forgiving. When a new type of substrate comes out, people are initially shy about it. But once everyone really starts sewing with it, it it’s good, it sticks. Think about polyester. I know, it conjures up all sorts of visions of leisure suits from the 70s, and dresses from the 60s.
But hey. We’ve done so much more since then! Think of those adorable ruffle skirts and items that we have made for the shop. Everyone loves them, and many of our customers have sewn them up and loved them.
Polyester so easy to care for. It is not a natural fiber, but hey–you’re not eating it for breakfast! I know, I love natural fibers too. But there is the expression “better living through chemistry”, and I love that expression. I live by it. It is synthetically created. Poly means many, and ester is a type of molecular structure. I remember that much from college chemistry!
So, who’s with me so far? Okay. All the luxe cuddle in the shop is made from polyester. Those fabrics wash up so beautifully. And, they’re made to be used so you’re going to have to wash them. The emphasis at market this spring was garment sewing using these wonderful fabrics.
If you’re wondering I did order this fabric for the shop. We already have it in other colorways. This is the Luxe Fox and we have it in Rusty Fox and a pewter color. It’s on my shopping site, click on over and check. This is just a jacket pattern from one of the “big 3” pattern companies. I don’t carry many of these patterns in the shop. Just a few. That is because people tend to buy these patterns at a discount at the big box stores. I can’t compete with that. But, the big box stores don’t have Shannon Cuddle. It is reserved for small boutique shops like Bungalow. I do sell it online too. This is so gorgeous.
Worried about shedding? Good news. Only the cut edge sheds. Once it’s done, it sheds no more. So, take your cutting table outside and cut on a beautiful day. You need the Vitamin D anyway. Or carefully gather it up and put it in the dryer on fluff and it will all get caught in the lint trap.
If you’ve been in the shop, you know how beautiful my samples made with this stuff are.
Yes, we ordered this gorgeous stuff seen above too. I can’t wait to start making more garments with this.
